A New Year, A New Perspective

Friday, January 1, 2016

Gossip is idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others. As far as I’m concerned, it is a cheap way for you to feel self-important. It is a complete and utter waste of your energy and time.

People don’t realize how powerful words are, they are energy and a reflection of YOU not who you are speaking of. It is very “easy” to gossip about those that are successful and going for their dreams. But, I hope you realize and can recognize that it takes humility to allow yourself be inspired by their success and use it as inspiration to live your highest. Everything you put out into the universe will come back to you, it is the karmic law. Words of advice: When communicating about others speak only love — Or do not speak at all.

How about this year, for a resolution, we as people try harder to know, embrace, and accept ourselves and others, accepting all faults and imperfections. Be mindful of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Know your vulnerabilities as well as your strengths and achievements, and learn to love yourself and all people for these qualities.

Spirit Of Sharing

Every child deserves a gift on Christmas, and sometimes Santa needs a little help spreading Christmas cheer. Spirit Of Sharing (SOS) is a nonprofit organization which works to collect donations year round in person, by mail, and online, including automobile donations and other assets, to help our active duty military families throughout SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA each year during the holiday season.

Each year SOS shows our service members that we care by providing Holiday assistance to those most deserving, yet the most in need of assistance, help and support — our local military community. Help bring the magic of Christmas into the households of our military families’ lives here in Southern California. One small gift can make a world of difference in a child’s life. 🎁

Once In A Blue Moon

Friday, July 31, 2015

Lydia Hearst
Tonight’s full moon, the last BLUE MOON until 2018 (partly what makes it so special), is rising in ☆Aquarius☆  – If you don’t already know, a blue moon is the term for the second full moon in the same month. This cosmic event is unprecedented; it’s truly a month of transitions.
Aquarius, the water bearer, brings inklings of expansive vision and a new breath release which comes after facing our struggles. By taking people and things for granted you can wind up with nothing. And, it’s when you have nothing that you appreciate everything.
This moon we are being asked to STOP. Take a look around and to see the bigger picture for what it really is. Change is important and a constant in life, embrace challenges enthusiastically.
Experiences and relationships are paramount, especially right now. As for relationships, because of Venus, the planet of love, going retrograde a week prior to this moon, there will be an extremely heavy and IMPORTANT connection to romantic relationships. This isn’t about just any sort of romance or love though, it is about the kind of love that comes around only “once in a blue moon.” It’s time to conquer obstacles and open yourself up to the possibility of love and admit whatever truth the lies deep within your heart.
Be honest with yourself, reflect upon your decisions made over the course of this past year, and accept life’s transition. There is SO much happening around this moon in terms of once-in-a-lifetime type chances.  We all make mistakes which enables us to learn and appreciate our lives – which can often times be difficult, because to be honest, a lot of people do lead difficult lives. People fail all the time, I fail, it just happens. But from those failures, we all learn the greatest lessons for the only true failure is to have never tried. NOW is the time to navigate your life and find balance in your choices; it’s all the little things that are most infinitely important. Always believe in yourself and embrace who you are.

Something Needs To Change

Let’s face it, no matter what side of this debate you fall on, firearms are completely legal in the United States and there is unfortunately not very much that can be done to prevent some lunatic from sneaking a gun into a public event or movie theater and opening fire. There are, however, two ways which I think definitely could help to bring the “body count” way down: Read More >

Terrifying Trend

Thursday, July 16, 2015

This is absolutely terrifying and happening to more and more people…

Rhabdomyolysis – The National Institutes of Health describes the condition as “the breakdown of muscle fibers that leads to the release of muscle fiber contents (myoglobin) into the bloodstream. Myoglobin is harmful to the kidney and often causes kidney damage.” The condition is commonly brought on by excessive physical activity and results when excessive toxins are released into the bloodstream.

  • No pain, no gain. You have to suffer to get in shape.
  • If I don’t almost throw up, I’m holding back too much.
  • You’re only as good as your last workout.

Sore muscles are not always just a symptom of a strenuous exercise – This could potentially be an early sign of a serious medical condition. More and more physicians and trainers started seeing cases of Rhabdomyolysis with the advent of intense conditioning programs like CrossFit, cycling, TRX.

Just because something is “trendy” doesn’t mean it’s good for you. Fitness is a lifestyle that greatly affects your health and should be worked at over time. A lot of exercise machines and routines have a number of ‘warnings’ about what strenuous exercise can do to you body and more often than not, people ignore these warnings. Don’t push yourself to the point of exhaustion and breaking because you think it will pay off when instead it might just kill you, or worse (if you can imagine that).

Please, don’t punish your body and overexert yourself by a cleansing/bootcamp crash course. You body has a limit, and yet people pay for trainers and classes to push them past their limit without realizing the potentially fatal harm they are causing. Focus on the long-term results for yourself and your body, not the immediate. As the old saying goes “anything worth having is worth waiting and working for.” Please… be careful, be healthy and listen to your body and yourself. Life is fragile and we’re only just human.

SEVEN Essential Shoes For Every Woman

Thursday, July 9, 2015

As the saying goes: Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world. If you’re an online shopper like me, you’ll know that there is a seemingly endless amount of shoe options each and every season – and I probably have them all! But, I will admit, there are seven essentials for every woman to have and wear for the rest of your life.

Lydia Hearst

Basic Black PumpThe ultimate go-to-shoe! This is as essential to your closet as the little black dress. They are classic, chic and work with every possible outfit tying your whole look together. Stick with a pump with a pointed-toe, it’s a look that won’t be going out of style any time soon.

Lydia Hearst

Nude, Ankle Strap Sandal – These barely-there heels go perfectly with any outfit and are seasonless (Bonus!) Plus, these heels create the optical illusion of longer, more shapely legs. Nice, right?

Lydia Hearst

Metallic Heel – These shoes can dress up any outfit and flow perfectly from day into night. These are essential to every closet.

Lydia Hearst

Tall, Flat Boots In Leather or Suede – This is a nod to a classic, equestrian style – but to be clear, I’m not suggesting you buy Uggs. These chic boots will work over your skinny jeans or with your short boho dress – They’re as chic as they are classic. Be sure to go for a neutral color like chestnut, brown or black to make them more versatile with your outfits and last you years.

Lydia Hearst

Cute Sneakers – Leave your gym shoes at the gym. These faux sneaks are meant to sweeten up your look and are the perfect option to have for a casual shoe. They’re great to wear in the daytime and on the weekends.

Lydia Hearst

Flats – No, I’m not talking ballet flats (those were so 2014). Try opting for a basic, almond-toed shoe with a semi-neutral pattern, this way your kicks will go with everything and can easily be dressed up or down.

Lydia Hearst

Statement Heel – Why not have a fun, show-stopping shoe that makes you feel sexy? Everyone deserves that! Get yourself a pair of neon, animal print or sparkle embellished heel. A little bit of bling and pizzazz goes a long way.

Happy 4th of July

Lydia Hearst

The 4th of July is upon us! I am a proud American, and this year there are so many reasons to celebrate Independence Day with fervor.

  • The recent Supreme Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage. #LoveWins
  • American tourists are allowed to visit Cuba and the reopening of the American embassy since its 1961 closure. #Travel
  • And, the Confederate flag which is regarded as a symbol of racism, will finally cease to fly over public buildings. #LoveNotHate

One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, One Nation evermore! Have a happy and safe 4th of July!!

Life’s Limitless Possibilities…

Every moment happening now makes up the present – right here and right now in your life doesn’t have to be enmeshed with your past. It’s entirely possible to start anew! Who hasn’t been hesitant at one time or another to “start over” and begin again with a new project, goal or relationship due to whatever occurred in the past? I know I have been before. The past is the past… That’s where it should stay. This moment here and now is entirely different and new, which gives you the choice to go in any direction you want.

It’s unfortunate that for so many life and love can be dictated by fear. No one might ever fully understand what it truly is that makes you, you… But the way I see it, is that even if I end up crying I can’t help but remain hopeful and open myself up to the possibilities. Experiences and relationships are paramount – My relationships with people are what motivate and inspire me in my life. There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. Why not embrace each moment?! Life isn’t meant to be lived in comfort-zones… Take chances and don’t be afraid of the results – If you don’t challenge yourself you may never truly know yourself or grow. “Playing it safe” really just means that you’re going to miss out on a lot.

A way to bridge a relationship with friends, family and those you love (including yourself!!) is to be honest with the heart and not just face literal truths. In life, there will always be risks that cause vulnerability and can sometimes lead to pain… BUT, sometimes the most cataclysmic changes in life come from pain. It’s important to remember that life is composed of moments – You have to take those moments as they come… Impulsively.

One Fashion trend that MUST be stopped

Flip-Flops

Lydia Hearst

We’ve all worn them at one time or another, some of you may still be wearing them today – It’s time to STOP. Not only are these pseudo-shoes unattractive by any standards and cause hammertoe. Still thinking about wearing flip flops? Here’s a list:

Clumsy – Wearing these shoes forces you to take smaller steps. This puts you more at risk to fumble and fall.

Blisters – Caused by excessive rubbing of the rubber/latex strap between your toes and across your foot. And when those blisters inevitably pop, you’re left with an open wound that makes you vulnerable to the pathogens you pick up every time you leave your foot exposed.

Hammertoe – I already mentioned this to you. Hammertoe is a type of damage that occurs when your toes are forced to grip extra hard (like while wearing and walking in flip-flops) to keep the shoes on you feet. This extensive and repeated gripping can cause stiffness, pain and you might wind up needing surgery.

Summer Style Trends

Monday, June 8, 2015

Don’t let the June Gloom fool you, it’s officially summer and here are some of the hottest trends to keep the spirit of summer alive and inspire your inner fashionista.

Lydia Hearst

Haute Hippy: Coachella might be over, but the fashionista’s love for billowing dresses and hippy-chic looks isn’t going anywhere any time soon. My personal favorite brands that are inline with this trend are the chic, flower-power ensembles by Free People, kaleidoscope motifs by Etro and the rockstar-glam looks from Saint Laurent.

Lydia Hearst

Khaki: Having first been introduced to the catwalk over 30 years ago, this safari-style trend is coming back with a vengeance. With designers like Ralph Lauren, Sonia Rykiel, Chanel and Marc Jacobs introducing radical twists to the classic utilitarian wardrobe.

Lydia Hearst

Folk: This seems to be one of the more creative, youthful and interesting twists to the fashion trends. Designers like Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Balmain have been showcasing patchwork patterns in their latest designs. I absolutely love these ensembles decorated with sweet prints and embroidery, which make your outfits naturally effortlessly elegant.

Lydia Hearst

Ballerina: Long, sweeping tutus certainly didn’t fall short while gracing the SS15 catwalks. Designers like Giorgio Armani, Vionnet, Dolce & Gabbana and Top Shop showcased classical, on pointe silhouettes that will have you looking like an elegant cross between a prima ballerina and a vestal virgin.
