As the saying goes: Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world. If you’re an online shopper like me, you’ll know that there is a seemingly endless amount of shoe options each and every season – and I probably have them all! But, I will admit, there are seven essentials for every woman to have and wear for the rest of your life.
Basic Black Pump – The ultimate go-to-shoe! This is as essential to your closet as the little black dress. They are classic, chic and work with every possible outfit tying your whole look together. Stick with a pump with a pointed-toe, it’s a look that won’t be going out of style any time soon.
Nude, Ankle Strap Sandal – These barely-there heels go perfectly with any outfit and are seasonless (Bonus!) Plus, these heels create the optical illusion of longer, more shapely legs. Nice, right?
Metallic Heel – These shoes can dress up any outfit and flow perfectly from day into night. These are essential to every closet.
Tall, Flat Boots In Leather or Suede – This is a nod to a classic, equestrian style – but to be clear, I’m not suggesting you buy Uggs. These chic boots will work over your skinny jeans or with your short boho dress – They’re as chic as they are classic. Be sure to go for a neutral color like chestnut, brown or black to make them more versatile with your outfits and last you years.
Cute Sneakers – Leave your gym shoes at the gym. These faux sneaks are meant to sweeten up your look and are the perfect option to have for a casual shoe. They’re great to wear in the daytime and on the weekends.
Flats – No, I’m not talking ballet flats (those were so 2014). Try opting for a basic, almond-toed shoe with a semi-neutral pattern, this way your kicks will go with everything and can easily be dressed up or down.
Statement Heel – Why not have a fun, show-stopping shoe that makes you feel sexy? Everyone deserves that! Get yourself a pair of neon, animal print or sparkle embellished heel. A little bit of bling and pizzazz goes a long way.

It is hard to pinpoint the exact moment that I wanted to work in entertainment and fashion, but it is something I remember always having my heart set on. The fashion industry is fickle and fast-paced – Trends and faces change every season – though, I have always loved the creative process. For someone who is only 5’7″ (give or take an inch), shy and unique looking, becoming a true model was no small feat. But, as fate would have it, I became one of the lucky ones. I was discovered by Steven Meisel and given my first VOGUE cover in Italy, March 2004, and shortly there after my first campaign, Prada FW2004. I had no idea what being a model even entailed – even though I knew that it was what I wanted to do and a part of who I was destined to become. Showing up at Milk Studios in Chelsea Piers surrounded by models like Karen Elson, Elise Crombez, Gemma Ward, Jessica Stam and Raquel Zimmerman was SO intimidating. These were the beautiful women who I looked up to and admired as I poured through my monthly fashion magazines… Then suddenly, there they were in the flesh. These women were shooting a campaign for one of the greatest fashion houses in the world and there I was, among them. This moment was a dream come true! And yet, it was only just the beginning…
From my experience, I can honestly say that one should never give up on their dreams. Instead of going through life saying “I want” or “I hope” say “I WILL”! It is important to always believe in yourself and chase your dreams. I did, and I still do.

Life Ball 2015
The Life Ball is one of the biggest AIDS charity events in the world and an internationally unique ball. One question that keeps being asked at the Life Ball this year is if we all can expect or look forward to many more years of this grand event… My answer is, I certainly hope not; if it continues, it means that there has been no guaranteed cure for those infected. Lest we forget, the Life Ball is an exuberant festivity with extraordinary performances that year after year celebrates life and makes a loud and sounding statement in the fight against HIV and AIDS – resounding far across the boundaries of Vienna and Austria. In this way the event sets an example of tolerance and sends the signals of solidarity to society and the whole world. Yes, we are all here to celebrate life, but we are also here to raise funds for a cure for those infected with what is still today a life-threatening illness. I hope the in the near future our global medical leaders and research specialists are able to save those who are infected and put a stop to its spread for current and future generations. People sometimes focus on what they can’t do and forget that it is all the little things they can that are the most important on holding a real impact on the world. Everyone deserves a reason to get up in the morning and be happy; let’s fight to find a cure for those in need and give them a reason to wake up each day and celebrate the gift of life. Together we can all save the world, even if that world is one person’s.

On the eve of the Life Ball, there is the Red Ribbon Celebration Concert in the Vienna Burgtheater. For the forth time already, the Red Ribbon Celebration Concert takes place as a prelude to the Life Ball Weekend. Under the motto Building Bridges for Peace, it is part of the official festivities on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Austrian State Treaty and the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, which are held in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Europe, Integration, and Foreign Affairs. Our common goal to build bridges for peace and humanity is the fundamental condition for a tolerant society.
