Cake in a box… It’s so bad it’s good! If you want a bakery cake, go out and buy one. But, don’t be afraid to have cake just because it looks homemade. As far as I’m concerned, when it comes to cake it is all about taste.

I do tend to love making everything from scratch, and typically I would say you should toss boxed mixes to the side and conquer your fear of homemade recipes; but honestly, I LOVE Duncan Hines. This is my guilty pleasure and sometimes I just can’t help myself!

Everyone has their own techniques when it comes to baking. I love to customize. Here are a few of my favorite places that create edible decorations that will satisfy any bakers wants and desires for holiday and personal trimmings.

Ghostly’Nanners & Orange Pumpkins

  • Ingredients

    • 5 Bananas
    • 1 handful Nestle Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
    • 8 Clementines
    • 2 Sticks of Celery
  • Directions
    • Peel Bananas then slice in half
    • Slice Chocolate Chips (Use slices to make eyes and mouth for “ghost face” at the tip of bananas – Smaller slices for eyes, larger for mouth)
    • Set aside
    • Peel 8 Clementines
    • Set aside
    • Chop Celery into pieces 1/2 inch to 1 inch in length, then quarter
    • Stick Celery pieces into the top of each clementine to give stem-like appearance
    • Place all bananas and clementines on a plate or trey together
    • Serve
