For me, beauty is being comfortable in your own skin –  but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have an elegant gown (or two) either. I own everything that I wear from head to toe. I don’t work with a stylist and I love choosing my clothes for every-day-looks and red carpet events. I truly enjoy the time that it takes to pull that perfect look together myself.

LYDIA HEARST AND OPERATION SMILE

Lydia Hearst Operation Smile

The style icon and supermodel is transitioning into being an actress, with several features (and a new television series, South of Hell on WEtv airing spring/summer 2015) on the go – but also finds the time to support Operation Smile, a charity that provides free surgery to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities in children around the globe.

Could you tell us about your commitment to Operation Smile?
Working with Operation Smile has been a completely life-altering experience. It’s an organization I am truly passionate about and grateful to be a part of. I first became involved nearly ten years ago when I volunteered to help stuff envelopes for the Smile Gala. I have since been on a few volunteer missions with Operation Smile, and am working on arranging another one in the coming months.

How does your contribution to Operation Smile work in practice?
I am always trying to help raise awareness for Operation Smile by speaking, writing and tweeting about the organization. Also, I have tried to raise awareness about how individuals can make a difference while they shop, through smile.amazon.com – I think it is brilliant that Amazon has created an automatic way to donate each and every time you shop, and at no cost to the spender!

Can you tell us what it is like to go on a volunteer mission with Operation Smile?
I have been to Egypt and Peru. It is incredible and truly inspiring to be part of something with so many unique individuals who come together for the greater good of helping others and saving lives, one smile at a time. I never knew my heart could hold so much love before joining Operation Smile and spending so much time with these wonderful, beautiful children and families.

On your website you speak about the need for hands-on charity work?
I love working with children and to volunteer with the medical teams, and do all that I can to be involved with Operation Smile. Each and every one of us has the ability to bring hope and give smiles.

To clean skin, apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Illuminating Natural Radiance followed by Dior Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Wear Makeup in Peach – a smart foundation formula that adapts to your unique skin type which keep skin balanced, smooth, and healthy. SET your foundation with Laura Mercier Tralslucent Loose Setting Powder – This is a non-dusty powder that will set your makeup and give a flawless finish, but be sure to apply sparingly (right now) as you are just getting started with your makeup look. Then CONTOUR your cheekbones with NARS Contour Blush in Paloma to give yourself natural dimensions and enhance your skins natural glow. And follow up with CLINIQUE Cheek Pop in Berry Pop – a very warm, natural cheek color perfect for all skin tones which gives a “natural blush of just-pinched pop” – I swear by these two blush products! The combination of the two will define your features and make your skin look flawless, fresh and RADIANT.

Before putting on any eye shadow use Lancome Maquicomplet in Light Buff for complete coverage and to brighten up tired eyes. Use this product as a BASE for all you other products. For shadow use NARS Duo Eyeshadow Compact in Kuala Lumpur – Apply Rose Gold ALL OVER the lid of your eye and subtly smoke out and BLEND the Boysenberry shade to the outer lid and outer crease. LINE your lashes and inner lid with Bare Minerals Round the Clock waterproof eyeliner 5pm – This long-wearing color applies easily and gives your eyes an extra pop for a night on the town. Under the eyes use Lancome Maquicomplet in Light Buff and after be sure to SET concealer with Laura Mercier Tralslucent Loose Setting Powder.

SHAPE your brows with DIOR Powder Brow Pencil in Chestnut – this help to softly define your brows giving them a perfectly well groomed look.

CURL your lashes with the Shiseido Eyelash Curler and apply Lancome Hypnose Star Waterproof 24 hour Mascara – This mascara will hold the curl in your lash and help your lashes appear naturally fuller – It is AMAZING!

Complete your look by applying CLINIQUE Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Roomiest Rose – this will soften your lips and give you a perfectly kissable pout.
